Walking in the Lakeland Fells
The Lake District of Cumbria in the far north west of England contain some of the finest mountains in England. All of England 3000 foot hills are to be found here. It has a ruggedness that is unmatched anywhere else in England and there is much argument, mostly good natured, as to its relative merits with the hills of Wales & Scotland! This area contains many fine walks and a number recently televised as the "Wainwright Walks" presented by Julia Bradbury.
I will seek to introduce you to some of the best of the Lakeland Fells, taking in some of the tops identified by A. Wainwright, admiring the views and completing some of the challenges of this beautiful part of England
These are some of my favourite Lakeland Fell walks and are listed here as examples of walks available in the region

High Street from Haweswater
A hill with a History! This hill has so much to tell us about how man has used the hills of Britain!
This walk’s route is avoids the bustle of the Coast to Coast path using some of the quieter parts of this wonderful fell.
A rugged walk and a good introduction to the wilds of the Lake District & is a good chance to brush up some of your navigation skills

Helvellyn from Glenridding
Helvellyn is one of the few 3000 foot mountains in England. And the eastern side shows a true mountain to rival any in Britain
This walk’s route aims to approach the top by one of the classic fell walking routes and can easily be varied to suit the party
The views themselves are a must!

A. Wainwright described Eskdale as "one of the loveliest of Lakelands valleys" & "this perfect Arcadia in the hills."
This Low to Mid-level ramble explores some of the upper reaches of this relatively unfrequented lakeland dale. Options are available to climb higher into the Highest regions of England.
And combine the walking with a trip on La'Al Ratty (The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway) and you can have a perfect summer lakeland day!

The Pike
An Ascent of the highest Mountain in England, Scafell Pike, standing at 978 metres, or 3209 feet. Either a Full day in fantastic mountains or an afternoon rapid ascent, depending on route and conditions. This is a Serious Mountain
Obviously you do not need a
Mountain Leader to join you if you are experienced enough, but the Lakeland Fells is a region with some big mountains and real risks
