Walking in Snowdonia

The Snowdonia National Park in North Wales offers some of the best Hillwalking in the United Kingdom and I heartily recommend the area.
The highest of these hills are the "Welsh 3000s", 15 mountain peaks all over 3000 feet (914.4 metres) above see level but with Snowdon head and shoulders aboce the rest

"Just got home after the most exciting and challenging day I've had in years on a guided walk in Snowdonia - thank you very much for making the trip so memorable" Danny

There is far more to Snowdonia than just Snowdon. The light green area shows the National Park, the Red Circle is around Snowdon itself, to give an idea of scale. Snowdon is coloured Green in the lower map

There are many discrete groups of mountains, as shown on the lower map. Each group with there own character, each with delights and challenges. Take a look at some of my pages on some of the differing mountain groups. The links are above or beside the map

The walks below are some of my favourite Snowdonia walks and are listed here as examples of walks available in the region. Some of these walks are very popular, some are very quiet

An opportunity for you to climb the Highest Mountain in England and Wales
Current dates are Friday 6th May & Friday 20th May

Nantlle Ridge Traverse

Spend a full day in the Eifionydd, traversing this unfrequented mountain range to the west of Snowdon. A rugged end to end walk, a definite tick!

Bochlwyd Horseshoe

A long time favourite of mine. A tough, full day walk in the wilds of the Glyderau range, taking in two of the Welsh 3000s, lots of ascent!

A stunning mountain in the heart of the Moelwynion region of Snowdonia. Also know as the "Matterhorn of Wales"
Given a good days weather, incredible views of the Welsh Coast and Snowdonia will open out in front of you. The view is worth the climb!

Probably "the Best Mountain Day in Britain". A demanding route of scrambling and walking. Photo is of Crib Goch (Red Comb)

The Welsh 3000's

3 Days of Classic Mountain Adventure. Includes Crib Goch & half of the Snowdon Horseshoe.
This adventure crosses the Carneddau Glyderau & Snowdon mountain ranges

Obviously you do not need a Mountain Leader to join you if you are experienced enough, but Snowdonia is a region with some big mountains and real risks.
